Another Hyperbolic Plane

Here is another hyperbolic plane...this one started with a circle of twelve chain stitches and then I increased one every third crochet stitch.

I used that dyed 3/2 pearl cotton I had left over and a 0/3.25 mm crochet hook.

It never ceases to amaze me at how quickly and how long the outside gets. This one is forty five inches around the outside circumference.

In one of my College classes we did a dying workshop. We used paint for one wheel and dyed fabric on the second one. It astonunds me that I've learned far more usefull thing about colour ranges and values than I ever did in my classes.

I am totally blown away by it all.

After seeing yours and the ones on the website you linked to, I had to try crocheting one myself. I had some natural dye samples which are about 1 oz each of wool. The first one went around many times so that color looks like a lot, but by then it had increased so much, the second color only went around a little over 2 rounds and now this third color may not make it around once. It is just fascinating to see it get more and more crenellated. I call mine a lichen. It is getting a little boring now so I'll probably end it with this color but it was fun to do and just totally amazing to see how it worked.
